Sukuma Lutsha closes in style

The organisation aims to expand its impact significantly, with the next Visceral Challenge targeting participation from at least 1,000 people.

SEBOKENG.- Sukuma Lutsha Developments closed its 2025 calendar on a high note with the successful hosting of its annual fitness programme on Monday, December 16 at BK Lifestyle in Zone 14, Sebokeng.

The event began with an energetic 5km run, where participants moved as a united group, motivated by music played from a mobile aerobic speaker carried by one of the runners.

The lively atmosphere set the tone for a full day of physical activity and engagement.

Following the run, participants gathered for a prayer session before proceeding to structured gym activities. The warm-up session was led by Coach Mable from Virgin Active, after which Coach Paul from Team Masiza conducted a high-intensity bootcamp. Functional training sessions followed, led by Coach Luthando and Coach Hloni from Mamba 501 Gym Corner. Coach Dimpho delivered an invigorating box session, while Theo Mokhele concluded the programme with stretching and cool-down exercises.

Running concurrently with the main workouts, Sensei Wiben facilitated self-defence training on the sidelines, allowing participants to alternate activities and remain actively involved throughout the day.

The programme received strong backing from several fitness organisations, including Mamba 501 Gym Corner, Team Masiza and Thulimorrisons Gym Club, highlighting a collaborative approach to community wellness.

Reflecting on the year, Sukuma Lutsha Developments marked several notable achievements. Early in 2025, member Lehlohonolo won R2,000 at the 9eighteight event after being crowned Last Man Standing, while other members received recognition for their enthusiasm and consistent participation. Theo Mokhele was awarded a certificate to conduct Pilates sessions, and members benefited from a V.I.P. engagement with renowned fitness personality Nkululeko, popularly known as the ā€œKing of Squat,ā€ through Sukuma Lutsha programmes.

The organisation also created first-stage employment opportunities for emerging fitness instructors, including Lerato Mokati, Lerato Vilakazi, Theo Mokhele and Lehlohonolo, who were compensated for their services through Sukuma Lutsha Programs.

One of the year’s flagship initiatives was the Belly Fat Challenge, which attracted close to 300 participants and involved more than 10 stakeholders. Among them was the Rural Women Assembly, a global organisation that empowers women through agriculture. The assembly offered five Sukuma Lutsha members a three-month internship, each receiving a monthly stipend of R2,000.

Etlang Ko Vaal, under the guidance of Malethola, further supported the initiative by offering Belly Fat Challenge winners an opportunity to attend the 2026 Etlang Ko Vaal Africa Day Summit. The organisation also sponsored 10 golf lessons for selected winners.

In addition, two individuals who assisted in organising the Belly Fat Challenge were appointed as directors by one of the stakeholders, in recognition of their leadership potential and commitment to development. Plans are also underway to incorporate football development initiatives, including a proposed legendary match featuring retired professional players from Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns to inspire younger generations.

Looking ahead, Sukuma Lutsha Developments has set ambitious goals for 2026. The organisation aims to expand its impact significantly, with the next Visceral Challenge targeting participation from at least 1,000 people.

Sukuma Lutsha extended a message of goodwill to the community, urging residents to travel safely, avoid drinking and driving, and prioritise their well-being. The organisation wished all community members a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
