Umtentweni Tennis Club resounds to sounds of children having fun

More than 60 youngsters were involved on the day.

What a delight it was to have so many young players at Umtentweni Tennis Club last Thursday when Julia Christiansen ran a great Lollipop and Junior Tournament.

It has been many moons since the club has resounded to the sound of so many children having fun on the courts.

Thank you to Julia and her son, Daniel, for their commitment towards encouraging young players to enjoy this wonderful sport and members remind all these youngsters that they can continue playing tennis into their eighties!

A balmy Saturday afternoon had five courts in use and visitors, Keith Goliath from Bloemfontein and Kallie Holz from Sasolburg, gave the menfolk many headaches with their awesome shots.

Dan Dimitriu bought his usual favourite, Black Forest cake which he supplemented with delicious samoosas, chilli bites and fried sardines.

With Grant and Trish Wood back from Cape Town, members were also treated to lady fingers again.

It has been decided to hold the club championships in November this year so everyone has a few more months to hone their skills.

Anne Payn, Tap Kruger and Chantelle Donald have birthdays on the 24th, 25th and 26th respectively.
