Limpopo teenager (15) arrested with 2 unlicenced guns

The girl could not provide police with a satisfactory answer about where the guns came from.

A 15-year-old girl from Thohoyandou is accused of keeping firearms on behalf of her boyfriend, currently in custody on attempted murder and robbery charges.

The teenager was arrested on Monday after police received a tip-off at the Thohoyandou Police Station about a minor in possession of firearms.

“The suspect was searched, and police found two unlicensed firearms in her possession. She was asked about their origin but failed to provide a satisfactory response and was arrested on the spot,” police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the firearms belong to her boyfriend who was recently arrested for a house robbery committed earlier this month in the Thohoyandou policing area.

The girl is expected to appear before the Children’s Court at the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court soon on possession of unlicensed firearms charges.

“Police investigations continue,” Ledwaba says.
