Will we ever have beach loos?

We need flushing toilets at the beach.

DEAR Editor;-

The ablution facilities at our top tourist attraction, our beaches, are a disgrace.

We need to be doing everything we can to attract visitors to the area and not chase them away because the toilets are disgusting or not working.

The loos at Margate beach are padlocked or have bin bags covering them (South Coast Herald, August 16).

This is a major embarrassment and it has been dragging on and on. Every holiday season the municipality claims all will be well, not so.

HCM must stop passing the buck. The spokesman just fobbed off the questions about the ablution facilities by saying “the procurement process has started to get a service provider who will attend to the challenges.”

What rubbish – we need flushing toilets at the beach. We can’t wait for another `process’ – read – a job for a pal who is neither a plumber nor a builder who runs away with the money before the job is done. The schools close in a few weeks’ time, please HCM get the facilities fixed.
