Hefty reward for missing marine vehicle
This would be the catch of the season for any lucky fisherman.
A REMOTE controlled underwater inspection vehicle which was being used off Amanzimtoti last Sunday has broken its tow and is floating somewhere off Durban.
This information has come from DW Miller Associates Marine and General Surveyors and Loss Adjustors, which said that the device is expected to wash up on one of Durban’s beaches in the next few days. The insurers have offered a reward of R25 000 for its return.
The unit is probably floating just below the surface, and is trailing around 30 metres of line. It initially washed northwards, but may well be heading southwards again.
It was spotted by a helicopter at a position just south of the harbour mouth, heading north east on Sunday afternoon.
