PEPS have been busy competing

‘JD’ Hattingh came first in the 50m breaststroke race and broke a record.

WELL done to Port Edward Primary swimmers who took part in the Lake Eland Swim Classic challenge, namely Lily van der Merwe, Ruan Michau, Megan Bircher, Cody McDonald, ‘JD’ Hattingh, Stryda Perry, Ruby van der Merwe and Matthew Bircher.

JKA South Coast Karate Champs was held this past weekend and Port Edward Primary pupils produced very pleasing results. The ‘free fighting’ category saw Kamika van der Merwe receive two silver medals; Kaylene van der Merwe received two bronze medals for karate and kata; Ethan Scorer received two silver medals in karate and kata and Scarlet Scorer received two bronze medals. Joshua Pretorius received a silver medal for boys’ ‘free fighting’ kumite, and silver for boys’ final kata and was also a finalist for the top U16 South Coast Karate Champs, and he is only U12!

Stryda Perry and ‘JD’ Hattingh took part in the Blue Ocean Aquatics gala at Creston College. Stryda swam the 25m breaststroke and came third in the U10 age group. ‘JD’ came first in the 50m breaststroke race and broke a record. He also swam the 50m backstroke, butterfly and individual medley, and was placed second in all these races.
