HLANGANANI Preparatory held its annual awards day ceremony last Friday. The function was well attended by parents, the trust, and the school governing body. The guest speaker, Dudu Ndlovu, from the child abuse clinic, delivered an informative talk on rape and summarised the alarming statistics in South Africa.
The 2013 dux award recipient was Sithembile Ngcobo, who also delivered a moving farewell address on behalf of gr 7 pupils. Certificates were presented for meritorious performances in every learning area. Winners of three or more academic certificates received a hamper of school stationery and the function ended on a high note.
This year, pupils took to the stage with songs, sketches and plays, much to the delight of parents. Sinethemba Khumalo from gr 6 bade farewell, with a tribute and good wishes to the gr 7s on behalf of the school.
