RECENTLY the school was in an uproar of excitement when four helicopters from ATS Helicopters, Grand Central Airport, Fourways, landed on the field. The Southcity pupils welcomed them with such enthusiasm that the school became the highlight of the ATS Helicopters’ training weekend, kindly giving Southcity an hour and half of their busy schedules to deliver a talk about helicopters. One of the teachers won a lucky draw to go for a helicopter flip in the ‘Alouette 2’.
Southcity College’s junior and senior girls’ and boys’ water polo teams played Scottburgh High last week. All four teams lost their matches, with the junior girls’ team only losing by one point.
Last Friday, the junior and senior girls’ touch rugby teams played in the final league tournament of the year and the senior girls came sixth in the A league. Ten senior and junior mixed teams competed and Southcity’s junior girls’ team came third in the B league. Southcity girls’ touch rugby has improved tremendously and they look forward to playing next year.
