Have you got talent?
This is an opportunity for all creative people to showcase their talent.
THE South Coast can expect to see home-grown movies and videos in abundance in the future after many locals attended the Arts, Film and Video Forum (AFVF) film-making workshop at Gate Ministries last Saturday.
Many locals were given details on how to make great movies. The workshop was held to prepare up-and-coming stars for The Arts Contest 2013.
“Up to now, the South Coast has not been exposed in any great measure to the technology and skills that are necessary for this industry,” said Ivan Naidoo. “The Arts, Film and Video Forum (AFVF) wants to change that. There is an abundance of creativity, especially amongst the younger generation, that can be harnessed to create a vibrant film-making industry on the South Coast,” said Mr Naidoo.
In taking a step in this direction, the AFVF is inviting all, especially students in primary and secondary school, to enter the contest which invites entries in music, video and photos. University students and the general public may enter in the open category. The contest runs up to December 6 and an awards event will be held on December 14 where the winning entries get to win some great prizes.
“This is an opportunity for all creative people to showcase their talent. “We have the technology in our hands, the creativity in our hearts and now, through this contest, a platform to develop this creativity,” said Mr Naidoo.
The Arts Contest 2013 is open to all in the Ugu District. To enter, get a copy of the entry form and guidelines from any South Coast Tourism Info Centre, prepare your videos, songs or photographs and copy them to a cd/dvd. Submit this in an envelope with your completed entry form and proof of payment to any one of the South Coast Tourism Info Centres. The closing date is December 6.
The AFVF Arts Contest is widely supported by local government and businesses that recognise its developmental potential. The organisers are looking to get more support in the form of sponsorships.
