Landline down at Southport police station
You can contact the station's charge office at 079 6963525.
DUE to suspected copper theft, Southport police station’s landline has been out of order since Wednesday last week. Should you need to contact the charge office, the alternative 24-hour number is 079 6963525. The theft of the cables appears to have effected a number of areas from Port Shepstone to Melville.
Melville resident Rod Simmons, who runs his own business from home, contacted the Herald in frustration , saying his landline had been down since Tuesday last week. He said despite many phone calls to Telkom he has had no feedback as to when his landline would be up and running again. “There is a lack of customer communication and the service is pathetic,” he said.
Mr Simmons added that Telkom could have had the decency to at least send him an sms to keep him informed. He said he phoned Telkom this morning and had to hold on for 20 minutes, running up his cellphone bill. “I just want them to tell me how long it will take to fix the problem,” he said. An email has been sent to Telkom, and the Herald is currently awaiting a response from Telkom’s PR, Pynee Chetty.
