The motorist was freed using the jaws of life.

EMERGENCY personnel worked to free a motorist from his vehicle when it ‘T-boned’ a truck on the R102 near ‘confusion junction’ in Port Shepstone this afternoon.

The accident occurred when a large truck apparently executed a U-turn across a double barrier line. The road was closed while the scene was cleared but has since been re-opened.

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said Warrant Officer Gerard Prinsloo attended the scene and has opened a reckless and negligent driving docket. She confirmed that the truck driver would be charged. The driver of the car was taken to hospital. There has been no word on his condition.
