All well at Port Shepstone Regional Hospital

The programme gave hospital staff the chance to learn how to manage their own health.

IN keeping with principles laid out in the hospital charter for health promotion, Port Shepstone Regional Hospital held its health promotion day last Friday.

The purpose of the day was to assist and enlighten health professionals on ways to improve their health and well-being while at work.

The hospital’s wellness committee emphasised the importance of a healthy nutritional diet and education was rendered on physical activities.

Staff also took part in a 3km walk, netball, volleyball, table tennis and soccer.

Nurses from GEMS were also available, assisting with the checking of body mass index, voluntary counselling, various tests and neck massages.

“We thank them for coming on board and for providing an excellent health screening service to our staff” said hospital spokesman Phumza Morai.

“We hope the health promoting strategies have met the needs of our staff, who are constantly exposed to physical and psychological stress,” she said.
