Following in the footsteps of one of the world’s greatest statesmen

As Madiba has taught us, responsibility starts with us.

FIRSTLY we would like to invite you to join us in the spirit of celebrating Madiba’s life. Our country has been blessed by his magical touch, vision and deep sensitivity to all mankind, and it is in continuance of these moral standards that we encourage all visitors and tourism stakeholders to live up to his expectations. A message from Ugu South Coast Tourism’s CEO, Justin Mackrory shows how…

Welcome to our paradise – we have scheduled events to create pockets of high activity yet at the same time allow for our visitors to relax at quieter beaches and hinterland activities. We are catering for all visitors, from all walks of life in the endeavor to ensure that guests experience `the best holiday ever’. However with the festive season, come a few challenges.

In order to ensure that visitor comfort and peace of mind are realised, we encourage you to treat our natural and social environments with respect and responsibility – which include the use of the beaches and sea, alcohol and vehicles.

So what are we doing to be responsible and to improve safety on the South Coast this season? Congratulations must be given to all at Protection Services who are together with SAPS and RTI. They have embarked on an integrated law enforcement exercise whereby on weekly basis roadblocks, stops and search, visible policing and raiding liquor outlets are conducted. These operations have already begun and realised positive outcomes. Deployments will focus mainly to prevent any criminality on our beaches and shopping centres.

And a very positive move – on December19 a welcoming roadblock will be conducted in Hibberdene, led by the mayor, Cynthia Mqwebu, where there will be valuable information in the goody bags that will assist our visitors during the festive season.

So ultimately “CRIME PREVENTION, RESPONSIBILITY AND ROAD SAFETY BEGINS WITH YOU.” From all of us at South Coast Tourism we wish you a highly enjoyable and safe festive season.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
