Mobile offices ensure better policing

These offices will be easily accessible to the community.

THE Hibiscus Coast Municipality has opened mobile offices to decentralise law enforcement.

The purpose of these offices is to ensure better policing, community safety, crime prevention, law enforcement and improved accessibility of services to the general public.

“The municipality has decided to decentralise the law enforcement section further into all six zones of the municipality, starting from Hibberdene down to Port Edward,” said mayor Cynthia Mqwebu at a media briefing held at the municipality’s council chambers on Tuesday.

The mobile offices will act as reporting stations for members of the public and will be operating 24 hours a day.

They have been placed in four strategic sites, namely; Dick King Square in Port Shepstone, Shelly Centre roof parking, Margate Airport and the parking area next to Uvongo Town Hall.

The municipality has also partnered with South African Police Services (SAPS). In terms of this partnership the SAPS will dedicate certain days to providing services to members of the public in the mobile offices.
