Original story

A MAN drowned at Port Edward’s main beach early last Saturday afternoon. Netcare 911 spokesman, Chris Botha, said reports indicate that the man got into difficulty while swimming. “Lifeguards and crew from the National Sea Rescue Institute pulled the man from the sea and started resuscitation,” he said.

Mr Botha said when Netcare 911 paramedics arrived at the scene they continued to resuscitate the patient for some time. However, despite all efforts the man was declared dead at the scene.
