HLANGANANI’S first open day for the year was held last Saturday. The day was well attended with well over 200 parents present and began with the AGM at which a completely new school governing body (SGB) was elected. The new members are Shadrack Dambuza, Lungi Mqadi, Nosipho Ngilande, Mbali Makhanya and Sibusiso Mbanjwa. In her address, the principal Elaine Galanakis concentrated on the school’s finances and the parents’ obligation to pay fees on time. She further stressed the need for adequate parental involvement in the education of pupils.
Parents then visited classes to discuss individual pupil progress with teachers. The day was also filled with activities for pupils, who were kept entertained by the jumping castle, PlayStation games, face painting and the scary room.
Assessments begin this week, so attendance is crucial. Parents must please take note that remedial work will commence after tests, with completion of the term’s curriculum thereafter.
