SHEPPIE High’s best athlete performances at the KZN Championships in Durban were Alu Mbewana (U15 boys), gold for triple jump (12.40m), gold for long jump (5.71m) and selected to represent the KZN team at the SA Championships in Cape Town. Enkosi Pandela (U17), bronze for long jump (6.37m) and fourth place for high jump. Sarah Schmitz (U17), sixth place in the 400m (1 min, 03.8 sec), and seventh place in the 200m (28.16 sec). Both times are new school records. Tenille Roux (U15) third place in the 400m (1 min, 06 sec), is also a new school record.
The first touch-rugby team won the league trophy after beating St Benedicts 6-3. Eshowe High results are girls’ first team netball tour, out of six games Sheppie High won four and lost two, placed third overall (bronze medal). Girls’ first team hockey, PSHS won four out of seven games, drew three and placed second overall (silver medal). Boys’ first team hockey played six games, won one, drew three, lost two and placed fourth overall. Boys’ rugby first team versus Clifton, PSHS won 24-14, second team won 30-5. U16, U15, 14A and U14B all lost.
Sheppie High’s A team won against Hoërskool Suid-Natal’s A team at round three of the South Coast Debating League, with best speaker awarded to Amanda Shozi. The B team also won against HSN’s B team, with Phila Dyasi being awarded best speaker, but the junior team unfortunately lost to Southcity.
