PORT Shepstone Islamic School was honoured by the Hibiscus Coast mayor, Councillor Cynthia Mqwebu, at a recent mayoral breakfast in Margate, for being placed first in the Ugu District while obtaining a 100 percent pass rate in the 2013 matric examinations. The Islamic School proudly continues to maintain this position of honour: 100 percent matric pass for the past twelve years.
As part of the ‘Creative Arts’ syllabus, teacher Shaida Madari challenged pupils to exploit their artistic talents. Gr 7s moulded instruments using the pinched or rolled technique and gr 8s explored mythological stories and created containers. Pandora’s Box and other well-crafted myth boxes were the fascinating pieces from enthusiastic pupils. The gr 9s explored still-life objects and presented beautiful drawings of apples in a range of shades.
The school’s annual sports commences on April 10, with pupils testing their skills at field events. The main sports will be at Marburg Secondary School’s grounds this coming Sunday. The canteen will be serving scrumptious meals and tea time treats will be available.
