Make an effort to recycle
The success of this programme depends on everyone taking part.
RESIDENTS of Albersville, Umbango, Marburg and Port Shepstone are urged to recycle their waste.
A new recycling programme has been initiated by the Hibiscus Coast Municipality and the Umbango River Conservancy. Four bins, appropriately colour coded and labelled, have recently been placed at the entrance to Albersville.
The following waste material is being targeted – paper, plastic, cans and glass.
The Conservancy welcomes and actively supports the programme in this area and makes an appeal to all sectors of the community to take part in this programme as this initiative will reduce the negative impact on the environment.
Chairman for the Umbango River Conservancy, Morgan Naidoo said, “The success of this programme depends on all members of the public. An appeal is being made to utilise the bins for all recyclable materials only and not household garbage,” said Mr Naidoo.
Funds generated from this programme will be donated to the conservancy for community projects.
“The time you take to take advantage of this programme is your direct deposit into the well-being of our eroding environment,” said Mr Naidoo.
So if you are serious about the environment and tired of the mess that you are surrounded by, join the conservancy and make a difference.
The conservancy extends from the south bank of the Mzimkhulu River to the north bank of the Umbango River. For more details contact Morgan Naidoo at 076 2389826.
