PAST pupil and teacher John Bransby recently visited Port Shepstone High with some interesting stories of his days at the school. Starting grade 1 in 1953, he has seen many changes in the area, all for the better!
John believes every pupil and teacher deserves access to the very best maths and science materials available and has been involved in setting up a new website. Parents, teachers and pupils can download free of charge at www.mathsandscience.com and it caters for pupils from gr 1 to 12 in maths and grades 10 to 12 in science.
Sheppie High’s rugby first team recently toured to Vryheid and beat Pongola Academy 38-14, lost to Frikkie Meyer 26-13 and beat Vryheid 26-24. Boys’ hockey vs Ashton College, first team won 3-1 and U16s lost 0-1.
At the Biathlon SA Champs in Potchefstroom, James Mellors came second in the run event, 16th in the swim event and placed seventh overall out of 28 swimmers. Robynne Theron came 22nd in the run event, fifth in the swim event and placed 17th out of 32. Thomas Russell came seventh in the run event, 23rd in the swim event and placed 24th of 28.
At the end of last term, Theresia Mgijima, a staff member from the boarding establishment retired. Port Shepstone High thanks Theresia for 26 years of dedicated service and commitment to the school. Acting principal Dale Salotto congratulates Theresia and wishes her many years of happy retirement on behalf of Sheppie High.
Port Shepstone High gr 12 pupils (from left) Sthabile Mavundla, Geraldine Mrembo, Bianka Thom and Athi Ralarala (front) had the privilege of meeting actors Marc Kay (Casio) and Clare Mortimer (Desdemona) after watching a live performance of Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ by this talented team. Think Theatre has brought this production to Sheppie High numerous times and every time the experience captivates. This year the matrics gave the performers a standing ovation.
Congratulations to Laurie Elizabeth Johnson, past Port Shepstone High pupil, who graduated from Pretoria University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology last Wednesday. Laurie is currently at Wits University studying for her Honours.
