RECENTLY, 63 Southcity Christian College pupils from the rugby, girls’ hockey, boys’ hockey and netball first teams took part in the annual Treverton College sports festival in Mooi River, where they had the opportunity to play against schools from around the country. These trips away are a great opportunity for sportsmen and women to grow, learn and improve. Southcity’s netball teams improved tremendously with every game.

The first rugby boys played three matches; Southcity lost 0-18 to Treverton; beat Northcliff 15-0 and lost to CBC Boksburg 0-28. The first boys’ hockey played six matches, won two against Woodhill and Grantleigh (0-1) each, lost to Treverton 1sts 0-2, Northcliff 0-5, CBC 0-2, and drew with Toti. First girls’ hockey; seven matches played, lost 0-2 to Treverton U16, 0-1 to Treverton firsts, beat Grantleigh 2-0, Middleburg 2-0 and whilst dominating three other games, managed to draw with Toti, Creston and Northcliff.
On April 12, the first netball girls took part in a tournament at Kingsway High and won three of the four matches in that section.
