Funds granted for community upliftment
Organisations were warned to use the funds appropriately.
ORGANISATIONS which received municipal grants will be followed up on how they use the funds, Hibiscus Coast Municipal mayor Cynthia Mqwebu warned at the grant-in-aid ceremony held at the council chambers last Friday.

The grants were handed out to local clubs, as well as charitable and religious institutions.
“The funds given out are to make a meaningful contribution to the level or quality of the activity performed by these organisations,” said the mayor.
She explained that the 178 organisations which received funding had applied. “The organisations were asked to specify in their applications as to how the community would gain from the grant,” explained the mayor.

“Depending on the number of applications received and the available grant funding, the HCM council reserves the right, without prejudice, to exclude certain groups at its own discretion, in order to make a more meaningful contribution to deserving and qualifying organisations,” she concluded.
“The municipality’s vision is to uplift and empower the whole community,” she concluded.
