SHEPPIE High recently celebrated ‘Green Day’ as part of the eco-schools project. Pupils showed support by wearing green ribbons and throwing litter into bins to display concern for the environment. The school also observed an ‘Earth Hour’ in lesson two, using no electricity wherever possible and the art department wrapped invasive Brazilian pepper trees in red fabric to highlight the need to eradicate alien vegetation.
Congratulations to Alu Mbewana who competed in the South African athletics championships in Cape Town and achieved second place for the triple jump event, bringing home a silver medal.
The first team netball girls played four games in a recent tournament at Kingsway and lost to Kuswag by one goal. Pamela Mpinge was named player of the team and Jané Hills was chosen as one of 10 All Star Players of the tournament. Sheppie’s first team soccer boys won their match against Rossburgh 10-0.
Even if you have never uttered the words, ‘I do not like green eggs and ham,’ the PSHS drama department cooked up a treat that will certainly appeal to everyone’s taste buds. This year, PSHS will be serving up heaps of family fun in the drama production, ‘Seussical The Musical’ during May. Check the press and the school’s website for more details.
