Thousands of motorbike enthusiasts will take part in this, South Africa's biggest free biking rally.
THE laid-back holiday resort of Margate transforms itself into a revved-up bike city as thousands of motorbikers roar into town tomorrow, (Thursday), the start of Africa Bike Week 2014.
This is the sixth consecutive year that Margate has hosted this mega-event, the biggest free motorcycle rally in South Africa and the red-letter happening on the South Coast’s social calendar. It is a massive, four-day celebration of all things related to motorbikes and biking and is organised jointly by Harley-Davidson, Hibiscus Coast Municipality, Ugu District Municipality and Ugu South Coast Tourism. Sponsors Jack Daniels, Carling Black Label, Jeep and the Shelly Centre support the event.
For the next four days, there will be non-stop biking action in town, with Harley-Davidson offering an array of motorbike-related activities. All sorts of interesting exhibitions and stalls have been set up in the streets of Margate and a great entertainment line-up will keep motorbike enthusiasts rocking well into the night.
The most impressive Africa Bike Week event is the traditional mass ride, with thousands of bikers joining together to take part in an impressive 34km circular ride, starting at the Shelly Centre on Sunday morning, May 4. It is a sight that shouldn’t be missed.
