Ugu apologises for water disruptions

Problems included a faulty valve and a damaged meter.

UGU District Municipality has apologised to all affected residents of Gamalakhe who experienced water disruptions during the past week.

“The disruptions were due to water restrictions caused by foreign objects which caused blockages,” said Ugu spokesman Sipho Khuzwayo.

He also explained that water disruptions which occurred in various other areas were caused by a faulty valve and a damaged meter which were immediately repaired.

“Additional teams were dispatched to the area to assist. It is hoped that once an additional pipeline to Gamalakhe is commissioned water disruptions will be minimised,” he said.

“We sincerely apologise to communities of Madlala, Braemar, Ezinqoleni and Qologolo who were affected.

“We thank the community for their assistance over the holidays in helping to limit and contain the impact of water disruptions. We have learnt many lessons and will be implementing solutions immediately,” he concluded.
