The mystery of the abandoned ballot boxes

One may argue they blew off a truck, but it's curious that all three boxes landed in exactly the same place, and come from the same area.

THANKS to a tip-off, the Mid South Coast Mail found three boxes which appear to be official IEC ballot boxes on the side of the highway, just past Ilfracombe.

Procedure dictates that these ballot boxes may not be disposed of, but have to be transported to the provincial IEC offices, with the ballots.

There were no official ballot papers inside, but there were empty envelopes with names and ID numbers for special votes cast on May 5 and 6 in Masuku.

One may argue they blew off a truck, but it’s curious that all three boxes landed in exactly the same place, and come from the same area. The Mid South Coast Mail will follow this up with the SAPS and the IEC.
