Paramedic seriously injured in Melville crash
The accident involved an ambulance and a bakkie.
PARAMEDICS from KwaZulu-Natal Emergency Medical Services had to treat a colleague after the ambulance he was driving was involved in a collision with a bakkie at the Upper Melville intersection a short while ago.
Robert Mckenzie, spokesman for KZN EMS, said the paramedic is in serious condition. He was treated at the roadside by his colleagues and paramedics from MedEvac and Netcare 911.
“Even his off-duty colleagues responded immediately when they heard about the accident,” Mr Mckenzie added. The injured paramedic has been taken to Margate Private Hospital.
One of the occupants in the bakkie was serious injured while the other suffered only slight injuries. The scene is currently being cleared.
