LAST Friday, Port Shepstone Junior Primary gr 1 pupils enjoyed dressing up as a Letterland character of their choice. Letterland teaches written English in a fun way. It develops phonic, listening and speaking skills and early creative writing. Pupils are encouraged to listen to stories so that they can ask questions about the letters, shapes and sounds.
Pupils’ curiosity about Letterland leads them to take part in storytelling and to explore Letterland in their imaginations. Above all, pupils will have discovered that reading, writing and spelling can be fun. Top marks to parents who assisted with extremely creative and beautiful costumes.
Omo treated each pupil to a bottle of liquid soap to encourage pupils to enter the Omo competition. Returning as many lids as possible means that the school stands a chance of winning one of a hundred 2 500litre JoJo rainwater collection tanks.
