FOLLOWING last week’s report on a Hibiscus Coast Municipality tender contract being set aside, one of the two bidders, Zidla Ekhaya Auto, pointed out that it voluntarily lodged an objection to the very same tender process. The Herald received a letter from Zidla Ekhaya Auto’s attorney, Prenisha Sewpersadh this week.
Although Zidla Ekhaya Auto was one of the successful bidders, it was very much an objector to the process, as was the appellant Melody Hills Trading 112CC t/a Clive Lee Engineering and Mechanical Repairs.
Zidla Ekhaya Auto called for a re-evaluation of the entire tender process and an overturning by the tribunal of the tender process. It was for reasons of irregularities and not findings of corruption as such, that the tribunal rightly overturned the tender process.
The letter further states that the client had been prepared at the tribunal to answer any allegations levelled against it. The company stands equally prepared to answer any allegation and cooperate with any investigation from any competent body.
An attorney representing MJ Light and Heavy Duty Repairs, Viren Naidoo and Associates did contact the Herald, but a written response had not been received before going to print.
The Municipality Bid Appeals Tribunal had upheld as appeal against the awarding of a tender accepted by Hibiscus Coast Municipality. The tender was for a three-year contract, for general motor and electrical repairs and towing services for the municipality’s fleet of vehicles.
