Expedition Africa countdown begins

The 40 four-person, mixed gender teams come from 18 countries, including South Africa.

EXPEDITION Africa, an international adventure race over 500km of challenging South Coast and Wild Coast terrain, starts in Port Edward this Sunday, May 25, at 7am.

Members of the 40 four-person, mixed gender teams from 18 countries, including South Africa, taking part in the race will stay at the Port Edward Holiday Resort before and after the race. While the front runners are expected to complete the rugged course in four days, slower teams can take up to eight days to run, mountain bike and paddle their way to the finish.

Top contenders include the New Zealand team, ‘Seagate’, the Swedish ‘Haglofs Silva team and the American ‘Tecnu’ team.South Africa’s ‘Merrell Adventure Addicts’ and ‘Team Cyanosis’ are also expected to do well. Participants also hail from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Ireland, Namibia, Northern Ireland, Russia and Switzerland.

The adventure event has been warmly welcomed by Tourism South Coast.
