IN SPITE of small grounds and confined space at Woodgrange Primary, sports day once again proved to be a major school calendar event.
Spartan and Olympian house mascots looked stunning in their outfits and banners, badges and buntings added colour to an otherwise green and white school environment. The march was nothing short of spectacular and war cries, with a uniquely cultural flair resonated loudly. The atmosphere was electric as pupils, faces painted and dressed in respective team colours, glared at each other and danced with determination to outsmart the opposition.
Spartan dominated during the sprints, but Olympians showed impressive tactile skills during the novelty items. The girls’ tug of war was the highlight and despite a brave fight by Spartan, Olympians showed greater muscle power and proved to be just too strong. Congratulations to Olympian house, who won with a score of 115 and Spartans scored 99.
Acting principal Dr Maliga Chetty expressed her appreciation and gratitude to former principal Sweady Chetty for coming in a day earlier to help mark the grounds and be the race ‘starter’.
