South Coast journalist wrongly fined

He says he has never even been to Bloemfontein.

SOUTH Coast Herald photo-journalist Vee Ramsayi was shocked to find notice of a R500 fine in his postbox yesterday.

According to the notice, a vehicle was parked near President Kruger Building in Bloemfontein on November 12 last year without a licence disc on the windscreen.

“What is mind-boggling is that the car registration on the notice is not mine. The number on the notice is NPS 26893, yet my vehicle’s registration number is NPS 9545,” he said angrily.

Now he has to go to the police station to get an affidavit stating that the car registration on the notice is not his. He also needs to get a commissioner of oaths to stamp the typed letter stating that the fined vehicle is not his and post it to Emfuleni Municipal Courts.

He has to fork out money for registered post because of Emfuleni Municipality’s mistake.
