Man held at knifepoint, business robbed

The robbery happened in Shelly Beach.

AN employee at Cash Crusaders, Shelly Beach, is lucky to be alive after being held up on Wednesday this week.

According to police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid, shortly after the 27-year-old employee locked the premises and was heading home, he was confronted by six men.

“According to the employee he locked up at about 6pm, and was heading home on foot, as his home was close by. He was confronted by six men who threatened him with knives. The employee was forced into a maroon taxi with a yellow stripe,” said Lt-Col Wiid.

The armed men then took the staff member back to the business, where they forced him to open the doors to the business. He was then forced to open the safe. The robbers then helped themselves to cash and some of the items.

They then forced the employee back into the vehicle and dropped him off at Gamalakhe. No arrests have been made and Port Shepstone SAPS are investigating a business robbery. Investigations are continuing.
