AS PART of the ‘Visual Arts’ curriculum, Hlanganani’s gr 7 pupils listened to a talk by artist Kanye Ntshangase, who gave details of her early childhood and her passion for art. Pupils were fascinated by the example of Kanye’s artwork and were overawed to hear that her 3D artwork of Nelson Mandela now hangs in the Nelson Mandela Memorial Centre in Sandton, Johannesburg. Hlanganani thanks Kanye for giving of her time to encourage pupils to pursue their dreams and wishes her everything of the best for the future.
The school held its second open day for parents last Saturday and the day began with a brief address by the principal and the chairman of the governing body. Thereafter parents viewed pupils’ work and met with teachers, and although parent attendance was disappointing, the day was a success. The principal urges parents to make use of these open days in future.
