FOLLOWING the Herald’s report on a Hibiscus Coast Municipality tender contract being set aside, the second bidder MJ Light and Heavy Duty Repairs claimed that there was no tampering with the documents on their part and any alteration to pages four and seven of the tender. It claimed that the documents were with the consent and leave of the municipality, which is not in dispute.
The Herald received a letter from Viren Naidoo and Associates from Pietermaritzburg acting on behalf of MJ Light and Heavy Duty Repairs.
The letter states that mechanics employed by MJ Light and Heavy Duty Repairs are qualified mechanics.
“Any allegation that our client had falsified any documents in regard thereto is false,” said Viren Naidoo.
“The date of the award is incorrect in that the award was not made in December 2012 but in May/June 2013. Our client did not present any documents to the municipality that were falsified by attorneys or accountants. Our client is approaching court to protect her rights against the Bid Tribunal’s intervention in this matter in upholding the appeal and any other relief she sees fit,” said Mr Naidoo.
The Municipality Bid Appeals Tribunal had upheld an appeal against the awarding of a tender accepted by the HCM. The tender was for a three-year contract, for general motor and electrical repairs and towing services for the municipality’s fleet of vehicles.
