Jazz Festival is warming up

More than 3 000 tickets have already been sold.

ORGANISERS of the Ugu Jazz Festival have confirmed that plans are all set for this year’s festival.

“Implementation plans for this year’s Ugu Jazz Festival have been an improvement of the well executed plans of the 2013 festival that smooth-sailed, giving patrons more value for money in terms of entertainment, security and park and ride services, among other previous areas of concern,” said Cyassounds Holdings CEO, Siyabonga Msomi.

He added that this time last year only a few hundred tickets had been sold, but this year’s sales have drastically improved with just over 3 000 tickets already sold.

The park and ride services which proved to be the best method of controlling traffic and ensuring safety of patrons last year, will be used once again this year. Parking sites will be at St Martin de Porres School, Marburg Secondary, Marburg Sports Complex, St Michael’s beach, Margate Sports School, Olwandle High School, Gamalakhe FET College, TB Molefe Stadium, Margate Airport and Uvongo Town Hall.

The organisers have also introduced pay parking, which will be available on Knox-Gore Road, adjacent to the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre. Five hundred parking tickets will be on sale on the day of the event at Engen Garage Southcoast Mall at R100 per ticket.

As was the case last year, Knox-Gore Road will be closed and farmers with valid resident discs will be granted permission to use the road. Road P200 coming from Margate will only be accommodating one way traffic to the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre. Gamalakhe residents and any other persons wishing to go in and out of Gamalakhe can only use Izotsha Road.
