Support the hand that feeds the children

Supporters turned up in their numbers, despite the chilly weather.

BREAD of Heaven, a non-profit organisation, supplies sandwiches to hundreds of needy and indigent children on a daily basis. To attain the above objective the organisation has to engage in a number of projects, the main one being the annual fun run and walk held at Jai Hind Primary last Saturday, by which Bread of Heaven raises most of the money to run the daily business of providing sandwiches.

Luckys Sport has been the chief sponsor of this event for the last several years and this year was no different. Wooley Street Pharmacy also came on board as a sponsor. The event comprised three categories, a 15km, 10km and 5km walk/run. Some 70 ambassador runners took part in the 15km event. Each ambassador runner was expected to raise a minimum of R1 000 for Bread of Heaven.

A fun day was also planned for the entire family after the run/walk. There were a number of stalls and some of the fun items included volleyball, face painting, a jumping castle, modelling, games and music. At the time of going to print, the amount of money raised by the ambassadors had yet to be finalised, but organisers are confident that the exercise was a tremendous success and look forward to next year’s fun run/walk.
