Pumula photographer launches book

The local author has co-written a complete illustrated guide to the coast's sea life.

THE latest Reef Guide book is the perfect go-to guide if you are a diver, snorkeler, rock-pool enthusiast, fisherman or anyone who has a fascination with underwater sea life.

The Reef Guide, co-written by Dennis King, who has accumulated one of the largest collections of marine fish photographs in the country, and Valda Fraser, an enthusiastic scuba diver and underwater photographer from Pumula, is a colourful book documenting some 800 reef fish and invertebrates found along the east and south coasts of Southern Africa.

Ms Fraser, who began diving in 1988, was entranced by the beauty underwater and began photographing nudibranchs and other slow moving invertebrates. Her images have been used in numerous local and international publications.

She also has a nudibranch, Bornella valdae, and a goatfish, Parupeneus fraserorum named after her, and was the first person to photograph the goatfish off Pumula.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
