ISLAMIC School held a special assembly to observe Child Protection Week and invited Sergeant Stanley Holloway, Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid and Warrant Officer Perumal Naicker to be there.
Sgt Holloway, through his interactive presentation, outlined a list of drugs, their street names, as well as their harmful effects and displayed samples of a variety of ‘hard drugs’. Thereafter, pupils enthusiastically asked questions.
Lt-Col Zandra Wiid kept pupils intrigued with her anecdotal information on drug-related offences and arrests. A variety of updated statistics was presented on drug-related arrests and drug abuse. Pupils were advised on identifying tell-tale signs of substance abuse and how to report such incidents.
Sgt Stanley Holloway praised the school for its good name, but cautioned pupils to maintain the school’s clean image.
