HARMONY Hill Animal Hotel’s Cats’ Cradle has recently expanded one of its cat havens to give rescued felines more space and freedom.
Owners Penny Taylor and Renate Haussman have doubled the size of the original haven by going ‘green’.
The enclosed area consists of many pretty wooden homes and recycled items such as old dog kennels and even a stepladder.
The new haven is like a setting out of a children’s storybook, filled with happy cats of every shape, colour and size.
Cats’ Cradle provides a safe place for a total of 140 cats, all of which are looking for forever homes.

Sadly, the majority of the cats have found a home at Cats’ Cradle as a result of being abandoned or neglected.
Renate says the adoptions are currently very slow and she encourages everyone who can’t own or adopt a cat to ‘cyber adopt’ one.
You can cyber adopt by visiting the facebook page Harmony Hill Cats’ Cradle. It’s only R100 per month. “We need funds to feed and medicate the cats,” she said.
Everyone is welcome to visit Cats’ Cradle, but are asked to call first. Any donations towards food costs would be greatly appreciated.
