MTHOKOZI Jaca (32), a policeman from Isipingo, died in an accident in St Faith’s near Port Shepstone last Saturday night.
A passenger was found in critical condition and was rushed to hospital.
Jaca was believed to have been driving the vehicle which left the road and eventually came to a standstill down an embankment.
Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said the Port Shepstone SAPS search and rescue team could not find Jaca’s body at first due to the poor light and the difficult terrain, but returned the following morning.
Upon arrival, the team discovered that local residents had found the body. Lt-Col Wiid said a culpable homicide docket has been opened.
