Pellet gun used to kill pet

An irresponsible pellet gun owner has shot and killed a beloved cat.

A RAMSGATE family is mourning the death of their cat after it was shot by someone using a high velocity pellet gun.

The cat, named MacGyver, was treated at the Lower South Coast SPCA clinic after it was shot through the bladder and intestines.

MacGyver’s owner, Chanel Koen, said her family was traumatised by the incident.

She said they had rescued MacGyver about two years ago and that he was a most lovable and special cat.

Tsara Tickton, operation manager, said an X-ray was done to determine the cause of injury. MacGyver was operated on but sadly died. She said the SPCA would be investigating the case.

Ms Tickton urged the public not to shoot animals as they then often died slow, terrible deaths. She appealed to the community to notify the SPCA about any shooting incidents and to bring proof, such as photographs, as evidence.
