Wimpy: ‘We’re chucking in our chips’

DEAR Editor,-

After a 14-year battle to secure a long-term lease we have decided to give up the fight. We will be closing our doors on August 17.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every person that has supported Faure and myself since January 1, 1991, when we took over the business.

To our staff, some of whom have been working at Wimpy since before we took over, thank you for all your hard work and dedication. I wish you all the best for the future.

Thanks to the Mid South Coast Mail, AfriForum and the local community for their contribution and support over the last few months with the petition. We received responses from around the world.

Thanks to Famous Brands for allowing me to trade under the Wimpy banner for the last 23 years.

I look forward to sharing stories and some Wimpy coffee with you over the next few weeks while we are still trading.
