SURPRISE, laughter and tears were some reactions shown by grandparents when gr 8 pupils from Port Shepstone Islamic School hosted a heartwarming afternoon of pampering for special grandparents. Teacher Rabia Bux challenged pupils to organise this exciting event as part of the life orientation (LO) syllabus.
The event commenced with a welcome from principal Moulana Imran Khamissa, followed by pupils delivering messages to grandparents, some of whom were brought to tears. Thereafter grandparents could ‘let their hair down’ and enjoy all the fun and games.
The main aim of this event was for pupils to show their grandparents how special they are and to thank them for everything they have done.
Pupils collected money or used their savings money to treat their grandparents to lunch and rounded off the afternoon with a high tea. Finally, grandparents were presented with crucial ‘survival’ gift packs and it truly was a heartwarming and fun-filled afternoon.
