MERLEWOOD Primary’s grade 7 and 8 girls were treated to a visit from Ugu Youth Radio presenter, Thabile Msane, to commemorate Women’s Month. The girls were excited to learn that Thabile was a past pupil at the school and she shared some experiences that helped shape her decision to follow a career in radio.
Despite many personal challenges, Miss Msane persevered and is a genuine role model for girls. At the end of the presentation, all girls received little goody bags as a treat.
Gr 5 and 6 pupils were addressed by ‘Team Hope’ from New Covenant Ministries and the focus was on ‘building families’. The team motivated and inspired pupils who were being raised in ‘fatherless’ homes and encouraged them to rise above challenges and to draw on positive male role models in their lives to assist them to become successful.
The U13 boys’ soccer team took part in the Strini Moodley tournament at Port Shepstone Senior Primary. They had a clear entry into the semi-finals after winning four consecutive games, but ran out of steam and lost 0-1.
