SOUTHCITY had the first of what will become an annual golf day at Southbroom Golf Club, last Friday. The day was well attended despite fierce winds that prevailed, requiring lots of ‘mulligans’ to be acquired as a result. There was some fun competitions such as the ‘sloppy putter’ and the ‘longest drive’ with a hockey stick and hockey ball adding to the fun side of the event, which was a huge success.
The format was an alliance with the two best scores to count, using an ‘American scramble’ on the drive. First prize was awarded to Carl Nolte, Riaan Fourie, Pieter de Bruin and Neil du Plessis on a score of 97.
A huge vote of thanks to everyone who helped with the organising, the numerous sponsors of the prizes, donations to the funds raised, etc, and last but not least, to the team at Southbroom Golf Club for the use of their fantastic facilities and organising skills.
Pre-primary pupils invite everyone to the ‘Spring Walk’ at the River Valley Nature Reserve (past Margate Country Club), at 1pm this coming Sunday. There will be pony rides, jumping castles, beading, face painting, etc, and 18 market stalls. Hamburgers, boerewors rolls and hot dogs will be sold so the family can enjoy lunch before starting the walk at 2pm.
