PSSP was a hive of activity last Tuesday when gr 7 pupils explored entrepreneurial skills at the annual market day, an extension of the EMS curriculum. A total of 93 stalls offered a varied shopping experience with arts and crafts, a food court with the popular ‘shisa nyama’, and a gaming arcade.
Fifteen pupils took part in the interschool cross-country held at Creston College last Wednesday. Runners enjoyed the challenging course and ran well in spite of strong wind. Some PSSP top performers were Lihle Nomtyala (first, boys U10), Ziyanda Mqadi (first, U11 girls), Caitlyn Schlemeyer (first, U14 girls) and Tristan Leonard (first, U14 boys).
The U13 girls’ soccer team played Port Edward last Thursday and although they defended well for most of the first half and increased their attack in the second half, they failed to score and eventually drew 0–0.
The athletics team is training hard for the interschool athletics meeting which takes place this Saturday at PSSP. The extramural programme ends this week, ahead of the final assessments of the term, which commence on September 12.
