SPRING wafted into the Port Shepstone Islamic School with bursts of refreshing colours and exciting activities.
Teacher Sumaya Bux, together with pupils, planted seedlings in teacups. Each pupil took home a tagged and ribboned teacup with a seedling planted in it.
Pupils were addressed by Ntombifuthi Bhengu from the Department of Environmental Affairs, followed by the planting of indigenous trees.
Grade 7 pupils put in to practice their research and theory learnt in EMS by hosting an entrepreneur’s day.
The school hall was turned into a little marketplace, where eats, sweets and treats were on sale.
During ‘trading hours’ little shoppers thronged to the school hall and indulged in ‘retail therapy’.
The school was honoured when the Palestinian ambassador, His Excellency Abdel Hafiz Nofal, made a surprise stopover and addressed pupils at a special assembly.
Pupils showcased their artwork which they had completed for the BDS national competition. Pupils also displayed a flag where each pupil recorded names of children killed in the war.
