LAST Saturday, gr 9 pupils from Port Shepstone Islamic School put their life orientation skills into practice when they hosted the ‘special needs’ children from Wonderland and St Martin de Porres and their teachers and parents at the ‘Viking Snaks’ farm in Louisiana.
Under the guidance of teacher Judy Higgins, ‘Wonderlanders’ fascinated the audience with gymnastic skills and St Martin pupils dressed in bright sunflower costumes to mime poetry.
Guests were treated to tea, treats, a braai with desserts and each pupil received a knapsack filled with a beach towel, magic-ball, a stationary set and sweets, and teachers received potted roses.
Throughout the day pupils were carefully escorted on quad bike rides, played on jumping castles and enjoyed interacting with farm animals and cuddling furry rabbits.
Teacher Rabia Bux was proud of the pupils’ organisational abilities, patience and compassion and the generosity of parents and well-wishers needs to be commended as it contributed to the success of this enjoyable and enriching day.
