THE Sheppie High Ensemble performed at the Hibiscus Music Eisteddfod held at Creston College recently. The Ensemble received a gold award for its repertoire, as did Michael Botha, Emilie Wood and Daniel van Schalkwyk, who entered the vocal solo and duet categories.
The ‘Sophia Group’ received an impressive double gold award for its entry and Anthony Andrews achieved an outstanding 95 percent for his rendition of ‘Vincent’ in the solo section. Many of these items were showcased at the PSHS Music Concert held on September 5, which was a resounding success.
Ruth Fifield, an English teacher at Port Shepstone High, has published her book ‘The Postmaster’s Mistress’. Her writing interest, which includes recording local history, was encouraged by winning the AA Travel Guide’s ‘Best holiday destination competition’. Her book became available in September and was published by Penguin Random House company, Partridge Publishing.
